With the growing needs of growing families in today’s world, it is a must to provide the seemingly increasing stuff that cramps the family car with a more suitable and spacious container. Whether during traveling, camps, or any outing that your family engages to, it pays to be bringing all the things you need for your family’s convenience. Thanks to the existence of cargo carriers!
With cargo carriers, space is maximized not only inside the car but also outside. Yes, cargo carriers are especially designed for outside vehicle use. Some companies design and manufacture carriers that can accommodate almost everything – from plain and simple luggage to state of the art mountain bikes. The idea of cargo carriers is an easy innovation of great resourcefulness and creativity that saves a person from spending a few more thousand dollars for a bigger vehicle.
What Are the Kinds of Cargo Carriers?
Cargo carriers are a variety of two – roof-mounted carriers and hitch-mounted carriers. Roof-mounted carriers are placed on the roof of a vehicle, while hitch-mounted vehicles are installed at the back of a vehicle most of the time. Your extra stuff and your vehicle will determine the kind of cargo carrier you need. If you have mostly luggage when traveling and you drive a station wagon, a roof-mounted rack may work best for you. If you love camping and you have an SUV, on the other hand, a hitch-mounted carrier may work best for you.
Do-It-Yourself Installation
If you are in a tight budget and you think you have enough strength to carry out a simple mechanical job, then you may try installing your cargo carrier on your own! Here are some simple steps you can refer to:
1.Roof-Mounted Carrier
Consult your cargo carrier’s manufacturer for installation instructions.
You will need a roof rack. Most auto makers already develop vehicles with roof racks. If your car does not have a roof rack, you may install one on it.
If you have the roof rack on your car, it’s time for your carrier to be mounted. Your roof rack should contain two hoisted stationary parallel bars that should run from front to back; and another two movable bars adjacent to each immobile bar. Luggage baskets (can carry bikes, kayaks, and luggage), cargo boxes (enclosed containers of varied sizes), and cargo bags are the usual cargo carrier options.
Make use of the sliding bars to adjust the carrying capacity of the roof rack. Install the carrier with screws and make sure to check the tightness along the course of your trip.
2.Rear-Mounted Carrier
This is the best alternative for vehicles with no roof rack.
Most vehicles without roof racks have trailer hitches in the rear where cargo carriers could be attached.
Slide the rear-mounted carrier onto the trailer hitch and check once in while for its tightness to ensure safety especially during long trips.
So you see, cargo carriers provide you with so many benefits that getting one for yourself will surely provide you with countless benefits and immeasurable convenience! Get one now and enjoy the advantage cargo carriers can give!

Bed Liners: Sprayed On Versus Plastic

What is a Bed Liner?
A truck’s investment rate, sense of durability, and elegant appearance solely lies on the tool that maintains its condition – bed liner. A bed liner is protection placed onto the compartments of trucks and pick-up vans to shield the truck bed from further damage as with scratches, rusting, and dents. Bed liners come in a variety of two with respect to what is present in the market today. Let us try to see functions and features of both.
Two Kinds of Bed Liners:
1.Sprayed-On Bed Liners
The two kinds of bed liners in the market are the sprayed on bed liners and the plastic bed liners. Basically, sprayed on bed liners are placed onto trucks by cleaning the surface of the truck bed and then coating it with the sprayed-on bed liner. Once sprayed on, it will permanently take effect which paves way for a more sheltered truck bed that withstands rain, snow, and sunlight exposure. Although not as thick as plastic bed liners, sprayed on have a much sleeker attributes that are best for absorbing microbes and air pollutants.
Sprayed-on bed liners must be installed by professionals. They come in different colors that will suit your own stylish preference. Spray in bed liners can also coat your lift gate and keep it looking new for years.
2.Plastic Bed Liners
A plastic bed liner is also sometimes called drop-in bed liner. While it is easy to put in, it is also easy to take out, making it really flexible for seasonal use. It is made from elastic materials that have rigidly wide bodies that give the truck bed a more enduring protection form dents and scratches as compared with sprayed-on bed liners. It is also easier to clean.
Although plastic bed liners would not require professional experience, it requires the drilling of holes through the truck bed which becomes permanent even when the plastic bed liner is taken out.
The role of a bed liner depends on how you use your truck. Does your truck carry heavier loads for frequent transporting? Or do you just use it for light loads in short travels? Whichever is more applicable to you, a visit to the nearest bed liner store and an inquiry to what suits your activities well may gather results that will give your choice an absolute finality. No matter what kind of bed liner you use, it is still the safety of your truck that counts most at the end of the day.

- If you have the means of saving your back from the burden of bending and lifting, do so. Over bending and lifting are the number one causes of probable back pains. If it is inevitable to carry loads, try using levers, pulleys, carts, or dolleys to make the lifting so much easier.
2.If no simple machines are available, observe proper procedures in lifting.
- Squat down and get hold of the object
- Remember to use your palms instead of only your fingers to have a tight grip of the object you are trying to lift
- Lift the object slowly.
- Turn to your desired direction and walk slowly. Do not make a turn while on the lifting process.
3.Exercise and stretch once in a while.
- Good exercise takes away stress and a stress free body is a haven for back safety.
- A firm mattress relaxes the muscles in one’s back, thus giving off loosened up tissues that are stress-free and healthy.
- Whether through the food that you eat or through vitamin supplements, it is important for one’s body to have a calcium supply to give the bones nourishment.

Lift gates: New Or used?

Times are rough and money is something everyone is holding on to so it is not a surprise to see so many people looking for used lift gates. There is over 15,000 shops selling lift gates in the USA and Canada according to Jon Karel SAF-Holland, INC, which currently has over 3,000 locations for truck parts world wide.
Lift gates are not over priced as the cost that goes into it is high, so companies do not make big markups and go for large volume sales with the help of dealers.
There is a lot of pickup trucks out there that need these lifts and the box truck community has even larger need to lift heavy delivery items in and out of the truck.
Times are tough and people are turning to the "used" lift gate community, however what they do not realize is they are headed for trouble. Lift gates are hard to tell how old they are and even though many are still working , parts may not be ready available. Lift gates have moving parts and we all know that moving parts go out eventually.
Another factor that most people do not realize is that not all trucks are the same size. Most lift gates are made to order and what fits one year, make and model may not fit your truck.
This was the case with Max Krisha out of Lexington Kentucky, " I never thought about different models for different trucks and it surly did not hit me that each lift has different lifting capacities"
Max had found the lift on a popular classifieds website for 800.00 and later learned it came from a truck that was 14 years old.
"not only did it not fit, there was no way to make it fit and even if it did, it still would not lift the amount of weight I needed to lift. I was out 800.00"
Out of all the pick up trucks Dodge truck beds have changed the least. Some truck beds change every 4 years. Also keep in mind that even if you have a lift gate that is coming off of a truck that is the same year as your truck , it very well may have different reach. Some trucks are just taller than others.
So if you were to purchase a used lift gate, you will want to look for a lift gate that is coming off the same year make and model.
Make sure you also look out for defects, lift gates require maintenance and need to be lubricated and some times hydraulic cylinders may go out. Listen for loud noises or a non normal whining noise. if it does not sound right chances are it is not right.
Of course some times trying to save a buck can end up costing you in the long run.
Even on new lift gates the tuck away serious require much more maintenance than a rail lift. Make sure you speak with a professional that knows lift gates.
